Safety - CPR Training

The injury, illness, and accident prevention program at Michels Construction is of utmost importance and contributes to overall job site productivity and safety for employees.

Our safety directors use a multi-faceted approach to insure the highest possible success. Specific initiatives include:

  • Conducting weekly safety meetings at job sites with employees to train crews on both project-specific hazards and general safety items.
  • Comprehensive accident/near-miss investigations focusing on avoidance of future occurrences, including mandatory post-accident drug testing.
  • Pre-employment health screening and drug testing.
  • Annual “Safety Day” training for all employees to address topics of concern (based on analysis of recent issues and future needs).
  • Regular job site visits to insure compliance with safety policies/procedures and to address safety PPE and equipment needs of the workers at that site.
  • Project managers, field superintendents, and foremen receive extensive supervisory, code, safety, and job specific training. Equipment operators are well trained to have extensive knowledge of their responsibility on the job site.
  • Regular review and revision of safety policies and procedures to insure that they meet the changing needs of employee safety.
  • Site-specific safety plans for larger, more complex work sites.
Safety - First Aid

We are convinced that a safe and drug-free work place environment is crucial to quality and cost effective construction. Our low employee turnover allows us to place long-term, experienced, highly qualified people in supervisory positions, This allows all of our crews to meet the complex construction requirements and rigid schedules of each and every project. Our workers compensation modification. rating and OSHA ratings back up this commitment.

We realize that the key to our success is our people.
